Long Island for this destination only includes Nassau County and Suffolk County. Brooklyn and Queens, the western half of the Island, are part of New York City. For convenience the two counties are divided into five areas. With the knowledge that Long Island runs east and west and with the eastern end shaped like a two prong fork the area is divided as follows: Central - This is central Suffolk County. South Fork - This area extends from The Hamptons to the east end and is the south park of the fork. North Fork - This area is the northern portion of the fork. North Shore - This area extends west from central Suffolk and is bordered by Long Island Sound. South Shore - This area extends west as well and is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean. The western boundary for both the North Shore and the South Shore areas is the Queens County line, again part of New York City. This is an Historic category providing six pages of web sites. You will find Historic attractions on Pages 1 and 2. Other attractions, not historic and labeled More, together with a few golf courses will be positioned on Page 3. Hotels are on Pages 4 and 5 followed by restaurants [Dine] on Page 6. Each of these components will be organized within the above five areas. At the bottom of each page are links to each of the other pages at this destination. A second set of links are provided for Home, this Cover page, the two Historic State Main pages and to Golf Main page. Tell 'em you saw their web site on allvacation.info. |
